Day 71: So you must plan for the future boy. You've got to find a direction.-- Merlin

So you must plan for the future boy. You've got to find a direction.-- Merlin, the Sword in The Stone

This powerfully simple statement comes to us when Merlin is trying to convince Arthur being educated with books is better than learning how to be a squire while not paying attention to the direction they are mudsurfing. Two seconds later he realizes they are heading in the wrong direction and the castle is the other direction.

While Merlin is not wrong in what he tells Arthur, he does leave out that there are many diffrent directions one can take with their future. Have you ever tried planning for the future? There are so many what ifs and possibilites. It's always great to plan for it, and even better to have a few backup plans. It's ok if you don't know which direction you want to take your life or whatever project you're working on. Believe you me, I know first hand.

Take my blog and YouTube channel for example. As silly as it may seem, I had been having reoccuring dreams of starting my blog and channel and working on it from home full-time for several years. Once I decided to make that dream a reality, I had no idea what to call it or what direction to take it in. Thankfully one of my best friends helped me iron out what to call it and helped me with the direction to go in, much like Merlin and Archimedes the owl did for Arthur. I pitched so many ideas for names over the course of several months til I came up with this one. I knew from the start Disney and cooking were going to be the heart and soul of both since they are my two biggest passions next to my family. Yet I didn't know how to combine them. I finally got both started around 2 years ago (3 come May 2019!). It has not been easy by any means. I have lots of ideas and dreams for it. Some will see the light of day and others only get to see the inside of my notebook. I find working on even one segment of my blog brings me a lot of joy and an inner peace I don't find anywhere else. Even writing down my ideas brings me that same pure excitement on days I can't post. As much as I want to bring new fresh content to my channel, I can't just yet. Yet being the key word. So I will be taking it into a diffrent direction with my "Blast from the Disney Past" series, which are videos I've taken over the years at Walt Disney World, until I can get back to D Parks for completely new content and interviews. I also have big plans for when I bring in the cooking segments to my channel. Also since I can't work on my YouTube channel as I would like, I am focusing on my blog and on my DisneyQuotes365 project that I got started in 2018. My ultimate goal is to be able to have my dream of blogging from home fulltime come true. If through my blog and channel I can make one person smile or help them realize they are not alone or can make delicious Disney dishes at home, then my heart will be happier than ever and my blog and channel have done their work.
So as you can see with my blog, it's possible to have a plan for your future and it take many directions. It is a-ok for your future to look like a road map that Jack-Jack scribbled on. As long as you are planning for it and giving some form of a direction, you're headed the right way. There is a good reason why the future isn't set in stone. It changes according to the direction your choices take it, giving you the chance to take your life in the best direction possible.
So until next time, always remember to plan and Keep Cooking with Character!
