Day 9: I'm afraid being famous is not the same as being a true hero. --Zeus

"I'm afraid being famous is not the same as being a true hero." --Zeus, Hercules

This easily overlooked quote comes from 1997's Hercules. After Hercules found fame, he thought it was the same as being a true hero. Yet as his father, Zeus, reminded him off, it takes more than just fame to make a hero.
This is another one that hits home way too close. Society has changed to the point where if you're famous then you're automatically a hero. To me the real true heroes are the men and women who fight to protect us and our freedoms guaranteed to us in The United States in the U.S. Constitution and in The Declaration of Independence, protect us from fires, help heal us when we are sick. The true heroes often work behind the scenes and don't do it for the money or fame. They are also people a lot more closer to you too like those who feed and clothe you when you can't afford it or when you are too little to do it yourself or those who adopt children so they grow up in loving permanent homes like I was.  Yes some celebrities are true heroes not all true heroes are celebrities.

Normally I do not like to post sad things but I was sadly reminded of this quote when two officers were killed in the line of duty 1/9/2017 in Orlando, FL. Out of respect of privacy for the slain officers I will not mention either's name or the horrific circumstances surrounding their deaths. So please don't ask. I did not have the pleasure of knowing either officer. However I do know people who were friends with them. The two were just doing their job trying to keep our community safe and were doing what they loved. They both did great things for the community from helping underprivileged families to keeping the streets as safe as they could. To me both of them died true heroes for their service and actions.
Don't forget to thank those who you feel are true heroes for they may not realize they are one and Keep Cooking with Character!
