Day 59: All you do is follow the book.-- Fauna

All you do is follow the book.-- Fauna

In Sleeping Beauty, Briar Rose turns 16. It is on her birthday The 3 Good Fairies decide to throw her a birthday party and tell her her true identity of being Princess Aurora. Flora decides to make a dress using Merryweather as her dressmaker's dummy and Fauna decides to make a cake. In order to keep Aurora safe, they decide to still not use magic, much to Merryweather's not liking. Flora mentions that Fauna doesn't know how to bake a cake, which gives us this gem.

The book Fauna was talking about is a cookbook. While her first attempt at a cake is not the greatest, she makes a good first attempt because she did follow the recipe to the letter (and literal meaning of the words). Recipes are just directions for baking or cooking food. If you have the right directions you can make anything or get anywhere if you follow them. Working with food, once you master the recipe, or if you have any food allergies or intolerances, you can then begin to tweak it to your liking. There are plenty of recipes I have to tweak because my body cannot handle certain foods, finding substitutes for things or leaving them out entirely. So when I  am able to bring in the cooking aspect like I have planned, there will not be any strawberries or shellfish dishes due to my food allergies. Yet I will still follow the recipe.

Have you ever noticed life is like a book as well? Each day is a new page just waiting to be written and filled with all sorts of memories. That is one book that really cannot be followed because it is constantly being written with each word we say or each thing we do. Each milestone we hit in our lives becomes a new chapter. For instance starting school, that's a chapter, getting married another, having children (fur or human) yet another. Each day is something new. Will it be smooth sailing every day? Definitly not, I wish but not. Think of the hard times as a small conflict in your book called life then do a plot change and turn it into something better. Life's what you make it. so make it the best book ever written.
Until next time, Keep Cooking with Character!
