Day 63: Of course, dogs are a pretty poor judge of human beauty.-- Pongo, One Hundred and One Dalmatians

"Of course, dogs are a pretty poor judge of human beauty."-- Pongo

After introducing the audience to his human/owner Roger, Pongo, the dalmatian, mentions that he was searching for a love interest for his human.  He sees several ladies go by with dogs and comments on how they looked "too young (a little girl and a yellow puppy skipping), too old (an old lady with a pug)" and a few more comments. He then makes this comment which is a truthful gem all its own, even though he gets it right when he sees Perdita and Anita, a beautiful dalmatian and human by both human and dog beauty standards.

The nice thing about dogs is that they don't judge you by your looks. They judge you by your heart. Humans on the other hand judge you by your looks and not your heart. For example, a human could be overweight and short with a heart of gold and a dog will always come up to them to say hi, or at least attempt to go say hi. Dogs recognize that human is kind to animals and will most likely pet them. On the other hand, a human could be tall, thin and have the most flawless skin with a heart not of gold (constantly putting people down/be mean to animals). A dog can pick up on that and would be more likely to shy away from that human or even growl at them to stay away. Then again there are some dogs who would do anything to get some cuddles or say hi and not care if the person is beautiful or not on the inside. Other dogs, because of how they were treated in the past by humans, may not trust any humans, even the beautiful ones by doggie standards. The nice thing that dogs teach us is to look beyond what we see with appearances because they can change over time. There's so much they can teach us about beauty, if we'd only let them.
So until next time, Keep Cooking with Character!
