Day 82- The Bare Nessesities

The Bare Nessesities. This is by far my favorite Jungle Book song with "I wanna be like you" a super close second. This catchy song does a wonderful job explaining that sometimes all you really need is to slow down and take a good look around you, which will cause what you want most in life to come to you. It also tells us to not work so hard because we will miss the things we'll truly want in life, not the things we may think we want and are working so hard to get. It's a song with extremely vivid lyrics and such simple ones that need almost no introduction or explanation.

A fun fact about this particular song, it is the only song in the movie that The Sherman Brothers didn't write. It was written by Terry Gilkyson, the first songwriter on the movie. Because Walt did not like the original direction that Terry and Bill Peet (the first storywriter) were taking it, most of Terry and Bill's work was scrapped in favor of  Larry Clemmons (the second storywriter) and The Sherman Brothers's more lighthearted work. The rest is as they say history.

So until next time, always look for The Bare Nessesities of life and Keep Cooking with Character!
