After getting The Black Cauldron and wondering what to do with it, Doli says some rather mean words to Taran, crushing his spirit. Princess Eilonwy says this to him to cheer him up.
Have you ever had someone say something to you that was so mean that you lost all faith in yourself? Perhaps they were saying mean things to you so subtly that it really wore down your faith and belief in yourself that you weren't aware they were doing it. Did someone make you feel like you weren't wanted or noticed at all when you wanted to be noticed and wanted?
Everyone needs to be told they're being beleived and wanted. Even if it is for something small, it feels so good that you're being believed, even if for an instant. I know first hand how hard it is to deal with the feelings that Taran was dealing with, which caused Princess Eilonwy to say these kind words. If you can't beleive in yourself, how can you expect others to beleive in you? One of the hardest things to do in life is beleiving in yourself when no one else does, and that can take a toll on a person because it becomes easier when you have more people believing in you and you know it. I don't know what you may be going through, it could be something good or bad, but whatever it is that you're going through, I believe in you and know you'll succeed in the great things you are meant to do in life, even if it may seem like you don't feel like you'll do great things. Sometimes, the greatest things are the smallest things someone can do in life to cheer another person up and just believing in someone.
