"When You Wish Upon A Star"--Pinocchio
This is one of Disney's most famous songs. It als0o happens to be the opening number to the 1940 animated classic Pinocchio. It is a powerful song reminding us that anything can happen when you wish and believe in something.
As children, we wish on stars and believe in the simplest things with such innocence and wonder. Over time as we grow older or grow up, we choose to lose our ability to believe in the power of wishing on stars because society tells us that it is childish to believe in it. Some never regain that ability, others slowly regain it when they see proof it works, and others never lose that ability at all.
There are the lines: "Fate is kind. She brings to those who love The sweet fulfillment of Their secret longing Like a bolt out of the blue Fate steps in and sees you through" and "Anything your heart desires Will come to you, If your heart is in your dream No request is too extreme."
These lyrics tell us never to give up on our dreams and if our wish is meant to be, it will be and Fate will never let us or our dreams and wishes down as long as we keep believing in them and giving her a little bit of help as well. They also tell us that we will appreciate our wish more when/if it happens with some hard work proving to her we deserve our wishes and dreams and we won't know when it will happen, only Fate knows.
