Day 15: Watching him, I discovered that...-- Deems Taylor

"Watching him, I discovered that every beautiful sound also created an equally beautiful picture."-- Deems Taylor, Fantasia
Again the he Deems speaks of is the soundtrack. Sound has a funny way of making pictures when you close your eyes and just listen without physically seeing the sights around you. Each little note and sound Life produces helps us create an even bigger picture that sight alone does not do. From the tiniest paper rustle because an ant walked over it to the loudest sonic boom as a jet breaks the sound barrier, everything has a sound. If we hear a siren or alarm we automatically look for its cause, be it an emergency vehicle or an egg timer going off, same with a baby or a child's cry so we can soothe their tears.  Likewise, we hear a song or an instrument being played, it creates a picture the preformer wants us to see, like the musicians and animators of The Sorcerer's Apprentice as seen in Fantasia have us see.
For those who do not have the luxury of hearing, they have their own ways to create their own soundtrack to life, like feeling the vibrations of music traveling through a speaker.  Where someone who can hear the words and diffrent instruments, someone who can't and puts their hands on the speaker can feel the air pulsing through the tiny screen. They then can imagine what is being said or heard, if they don't have a lyric book or sheet music infront of them. What one may imagine hearing the sound, another may have a diffrent picture just by feeling the vibrations. Either way a picture is formed. How is a different story.
Never forget beautiful pictures and beautiful music can come from anywhere if we just stop and listen.
Until next time: Keep Cooking with Character!
