Day 33: But we have to hurry, because even miracles take a little time.-- Fairy Godmother

"But we have to hurry, because even miracles take a little time."-- Fairy Godmother, Cinderella

The Fairy Godmother tells this to Cinderella when she realizes how little time there is to get Cinderella to the ball so she can meet the Prince.

This quote is best known as "Even miracles take a little time." Yet when expanded it tells so much more. It shows us that sometimes to get that miracle, a little work is needed to help kickstart it into being. For Cinderella,  it was Fairy Godmother transforming her dress, animals and pumpkin. For others it could be applying for a hard-to-get-into job, trying to get a promotion at work, or having children, either through adoption or biologically. Or, it could be you're trying to get noticed by someone special, trying to find your soul mate, or trying to gain a lot of followers/subscribers on your social media channels. It could be anything. Whatever you may feel is your miracle you need to have happen, just wishing and praying for it to fall in your lap won't be enough. You need to take steps to help it along. It could be something as simple as putting that application in or as hard as swallowing your pride to ask for help to make it happen.  Once the ball gets rolling, if it's meant to be, it will be. It might not be instant, but it will happen. After all, Cinderella still had to wait to get to the ball after Fairy Godmother worked her magic, and then wait for The Prince to come find her after she met him and lost her glass slipper. She finally got her miracle and her happily-ever-after in the end but not without a little help first. So never lose hope in what you believe in and are working towards, because you'll never know when it will pay off and you'll get your miracle.

Day 32: If you'd lost all your faith, I couldn't be here.-- Fairy Godmother

"If you'd lost all your faith, I couldn't be here."-- Fairy Godmother, Cinderella

After her grand entrance in front of a distraught Cinderella, a simple hello wouldn't do for Fairy Godmother. So she opted to go for the explaination route.

Sometimes all it takes is a little bit of faith to make things happen, even if/when things seem entirely hopeless. For instance, when it looked like Cinderella wouldn't be able to go to the ball, she still had a tiny bit of faith and hope deep inside her that she could still go, even though her words said otherwise. That small seed of hope and faith was just enough to let Fairy Godmother to appear.
Everyone has those times where they may feel the same. It could be a relationship, school related, getting a job promotion, or something else. Let's say you're a new blogger or YouTuber trying to get your blog or channel off the ground and profitable like the bigger blogs and channels. You've done the research, made your plans for the future (some big, some impossible, and others not so big), and keep putting up new content for your viewers. You have all the hope and faith in the world you will get there and can't wait to do some of your more loftier plans. You've got everything setup, and calender marks to remind you of when to post. You're like the Kindergartener sitting on the first rung of a jungle gym who wants to join the bigger third-grade kids who are sitting at the top and doing tricks, like hanging upside-down from the higher rungs.
Then let's say life gets in the way for whatever reason, preventing you from putting up new content and doing what you truly love to do most, knocking you off that rung every time you try to climb up to the top. You become very sad and start to lose hope you may never get there because it seems like life keeps trying to stop you from doing something that makes you truly happy. Yet something deep inside you says to keep trying to get new content out even though it is not by the schedule you have set, because some content is better than none, and keep trying because you will get there one day, you just have some minor roadblocks redirecting you to the right path to greatness. That tiny voice of faith keeps popping up every time you say it's hopeless and you want to give up. Then you add new content or do something behind the scenes, like hand-write a new blog post, record new YouTube content, make a purchase that upgrades a behind-the-scenes component, or go back to view your old content. That simple act reminds you how much you truly love to do it and that you're still on your way, making your own brand of magic happen through baby steps. After all, it is best to have a good solid foundation made one step at a time so you have a good base to fall on if you lose your grip than to quickly shoot up to the top with no base to fall back on. Think of it this way: it's better to be a Kindergartener who takes his/her time climbing up the jungle gym, securing their footing the entire way so they are less likely to fall, than to be the one who races to the top and loses their footing when they get there because they didn't plan on ever falling in the first place.
Until next time: keep the faith and Keep Cooking With Character!

Day 34: A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes

"A Dream Is a Wish your heart makes"-- Cinderella

For this Disney Song Saturday post, I've chosen the iconic and classic Cinderella song "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes". For such a short sweet song, it is very relateable and very true. Even if you never remember your dreams, you still dream. I'm a firm believer in dreams. Sometimes our dreams reveal what we truly want most in life and sometimes reveal what we need most in life even if it's in a nightmare. The song focuses on the good happy dream that Cinderella just had while hinting at her not-so-happy life as a maid. She tells her bird friends that when you dream, all of the bad events of the day melt away, even if they trouble your heart, because you can always find that one spot where you're truly happy in your dreams and to never give up on them. She also tells them to not ever tell your dreams just before the start of the song because she is afraid if she tells then her dreams they won't come true.
Personally, I think dreams SHOULD be told because you may never know who could help turn your dreams and heart's wishes into reality. Take my blog and YouTube channel for example. I had dreamt about doing it for years until one day I told my best friend who encouraged me to do it and how to start it, since my dreams only showed me the finished product. Then one day, I took her great advice and did it. Though it's not where I dream it will be right now, I know with time it will be exactly how I want it to be. Slowly but surely, it's getting there. Sometimes telling your dreams can also change them for the better. Your friends can help shape them into something beyond your wildest dreams. For example, Cinderella never gave up on her dream of going to the ball and meeting The Prince though it seemed hopeless. That small bit of hope allowed her Fairy Godmother to appear, which she told her her dream of going. Once she told Fairy Godmother,  her life started to become an even better reality than she dreamed.
So never give up on your dreams no matter how impossible they may seem and as always keep cooking with character!
